"Sensual Serpents"

Film: Cult of the Cobra (1955)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Haunted Home/Civilized area

Height/Weight: That of an average human (unless in cobra form).

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: Tourists never learn. Every day, the locals of an exotic location have to put up with a bunch of Eaglelanders heckling them for petty amusement. At some point, they'll learn. They'll learn that futzing with different cultures gets everyone hurt.

History: The Lamians have been shrouded in mystery for centuries. They are said to be a cult that worships the great Cobra Goddess during secret, sacred rituals made to reenact the point in which she saved them from ruin. Unfortunately, a group of American soldiers were invited to one of their ceremonies without an official invitation. Upon being exposed, they set the temple on fire (you know, like good guests), but not before being cursed to die soon enough. The next thing they know, they're getting picked off by an unknown entity, and the only clues are snake bites. Then a nice young woman enters their lives. And she's not what she seems...

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: Alas, the woman is revealed to be a Lamian shapeshifter, and she had begun to fall for one of the men. However, while in her snake form, she's thrown out of a window, killing her.

Powers/Abilities: Lamians, particularly female ones, possess the ability to turn into cobras to enact assassinations.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 4-Although the Lamians are very much human on the inside, please do not piss them off. Otherwise, you get to find out why cobras are considered to be some of the deadliest snakes in the world.

Trivia: -In many cultures, the cobra is an animal of great religious significance. In Egypt, it is a symbol of royalty and power, while in India, it represents both power and reincarnation.

-In almost all its mythological interpretations, the Lamia is never associated with snakes. In fact, it's Zeus' demonic ex-girlfriend in Greece and a noble species of duck-footed siren according to the Basques.
